Famoso Dragstrip is a quarter-mile drag strip north of Bakersfield in California's Central Valley. The strip was carved out of a WWII training airfield by the Bakersfield Smokers in the 1950s and has been running ever since. It is the historic home of the March Meet (the U.S. Fuel and Gas Championships), first run here in 1959, plus the California Hot Rod Reunion and regular test-and-tune sessions. The current official name is Auto Club Famoso Raceway.
