Overview

Porsche Club of America (PCA) welcomes all Porsche clubs, owners, and enthusiasts to the Twelfth Annual Werks Reunion Monterey on August 14, 2026, the Friday preceding the Monterey Concours d'Elegance. We invite you to come to The Monterey Pines Golf Course to see a breathtaking array of Porsches, from rare to current models and everything in between! This year, we will be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the introduction of the 924 in 1976, as well as the series of transaxle Porsches. The 924 was both innovative, with the transaxle layout achieving balanced handling, and crowd-pleasing, as the entry-level model made the Porsche brand more accessible to a broader audience. The Porsche 924 wasn’t even supposed to be a Porsche. Initially developed for Volkswagen under the project name EA 425, Volkswagen scrapped the plan, and Porsche acquired it as an entry-level replacement for the 914 and 912E. When it hit the U.S., the 924 shocked Porsche purists; it was the brand’s first front-engine, water-cooled transaxle car, and American road testers weren’t kind. However, Porsche continued to refine the formula, and over 152,000 were produced. By the late ’70s, reviews softened, praising its sharp looks, comfy seats, and road-hugging feel. A Turbo arrived in ’79, but the upcoming 944 stole the spotlight, leaving unsold 924s to linger on lots. The model bowed out in the U.S. in 1982, only to return as the 924 S in 1987 with a Porsche-built 2.5L and a livelier 147 hp. Today, finding a clean 924 isn’t easy—early cars especially. But those who know, know: the OG 924 may be slower and noisier, yet it’s simpler, easier to maintain, and a true piece of Porsche history. You are not required to be a PCA member to participate in this celebration of Porsche automobiles; however, you must register to Corral or be Judged. Display your cherished car in model-specific Porsche Corrals, or enter the Porsche Judged Field and compete to win in more than 20 prize categories.
